Punto Base, the stage alive at night, nestles on Etna’s slope between a fruit tree orchard and a deserted house built volcanic stone. Shaped like the volcano itself, a subtle and mysterious light design cast shadows of smoke and brightens up the shelter during musical peaks. The dance floor and stage is covered in volcanic ash, reclaimed after the eruptions preceding the festival. Stones and plants join the stage, enhancing the scenography in a subtle but detailed way.
Ballroom, the main stage in a foresty area, lets surrounding trees enclose the dance floor. The stage, designed by Irene Ginesi and Caterina Signorelli, opens to vineyards on the slopes behind, with white fluid fabrics allowing shadows to come alive. At night the light design embraces the steel structures verticality. Slow movements and gradients tuning participants to the music, with the tall trees forming the nocturnal backdrop.
